Florida Comprehensive Cancer Control Program

  • Established in 2001
  • Operates under the Florida Department of Health
  • Formed in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  • Works with public and private partners to reduce the cancer burden in the state
  • Collects data to make determinations about the state’s most pressing cancer-related needs
  • Develops strategies to meet those needs
  • Promotes awareness about behaviors that increase the risk of developing cancer, like smoking, eating an unhealthy diet, not getting enough physical activity, and getting too much ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure
